For families dreamin’ of Walden one day beyond 2025

Camp Walden is the place to be every June!  Families will have the opportunity to experience all that Camp Walden has to offer; meals in our beautiful Dining Hall, waterfront activities on our private lake, sports activities galore, and accommodations in our spacious cabins together with their family and friends.

Included in this wonderful weekend will be memorable evening programs, evening campfires, games, and much more!  Invited to Family Weekend is Camp Walden families, Our alumni, Our inquiring families and friends, And you! …no matter who you are! (as long as you are nice!) to join us for a most unique weekend getaway!  We hope you will join us for a weekend of fun, good family time, and enjoying everything Walden has to offer.

This is a particularly beneficial experience for campers considering or registered for our Explorer, Home and Away, and Walden Long Weekend programs.

Walden stretches over 750 acres of exceptional beauty in Eastern Ontario. Our private lakes surrounded by vibrant woodland create an exquisite setting for the celebration of summer.  Family Weekend campers sleep in spacious, well-ventilated cabins. There is ample room for each camper’s belongings.  The cabins blend in to the Walden setting… the perfect backdrop for making camp memories.

There are 5 types of accommodations you can reserve for your family.

  • Comic Unit Cabins – $650+HST/family: Comic Unit Cabins are available for groups of 2-18 people. Private washrooms and sinks are right on the porch of each cabin. Shared shower facilities are available nearby! The Comic Unit is located on Comic Hill, and is a short walk away from the Walden waterfront.
  • CIT Unit Cabins – $850+HST/family: CIT Unit Cabins are available for groups of 2-18 people. Private washrooms and sinks are right on the porch of each cabin. Shared shower facilities are available nearby! The CIT unit is a short walk away from the dining hall and main office
  • Colour Unit Cabins – $950+HST/family: Colour Unit Cabins are available for groups of 2-18 people. Private washrooms and sinks are right on the porch of each cabin. Shared shower facilities are available nearby! The Colour Unit is the closest unit to the dining hall and main office.
  • Head Staff Cabins – $1100-$1200+HST/family: Colour Unit Head, Comic Unit Head, Zodiac Unit Head, Seeker Unit Head, and CIT Unit Head Cabins. Staff cabins are available for groups of size 2-6. Each building includes two side by side rooms, and a private 3-piece washroom.
  • Deluxe Staff Cabins – $1500+HST/family: Leadership Staff cabins are available for groups of size 3-5. Each building includes a common room, a private 3-piece washroom, and ‘proper’ sleeping accommodation.

As a family you will have the opportunity to experience EVERYTHING that Camp Walden has to offer. The weekend includes several Camp Wide Programs (Baseball Tournaments, Family Fishing, Evening Programs and scheduled/open periods). We have certainly taken into consideration the weather – we have prepared a “rainy day” schedule just in case!  If there is something that is not on our schedule, JUST ASK and we can do our best to make it happen!

Our staff are on site to help facilitate family fun at each activity! Our programs are designed for families to learn and play as a family unit.

Packing your family for the weekend is no easy task! We have created an easy to follow suggested packing list below.

PACK FOR ALL WEATHER!

  • T-shirts
  • Sweatshirts; hoodies are the most useful
  • Heavy jacket; ski jacket or something similar; great for around the fire at night
  • Raincoat
  • Boots
  • Pyjamas
  • Underwear
  • Bathing Suits
  • Running Shoes
  • Water shoes
  • Sandals
  • Flip Flops
  • Hat
  • Socks; bring an extra pair for night time
  • Shorts
  • Pants
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Blankets; extras are available, but bringing one or two is best
  • Sheets
  • Pillows
  • Pillow cases
  • Towels
  • Toiletries – including bug spray, sunscreen
  • Folding Chairs
  • Flashlight
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Rollerblades, hockey sticks, and protective equipment
  • Your own sports equipment (although we have lots)
  • Your own lifejackets (although we have lots)
  • CAMERA; you’ll be happy you brought it!

The “GOOD TO KNOW” List

  • Bedding: Most beds are built-in fixed single cot size.
  • In every cabin there is the option of putting double sheets over two side by side single beds. In other words, bring bedding for a single or double bed.
  • Mattresses are 4 inch thick camp mattresses. Please feel free to bring playpens, blow-up mattresses, foam cushions etc.
  • Some cabins are equipped with basic sinks and toilets with access to showers nearby.
  • Be prepared for all kinds of weather; a winter jacket might help!
  • If you are bringing your own food or snacks, please pack them in air tight containers to prevent unwanted animal visitors.
  • Camper cabins can bear only a limited electrical load so please limit the use of electrical equipment in camper cabins.
  • June is typically bug season! We encourage you to pack light long sleeved clothing and bug repellent.

Bancroft is the closest town to Camp Walden. They are a great place to stop for any forgotten or last minute items.

We understand that items may be forgotten and not realized until you have arrived… DON’T WORRY….we can help. Please don’t hesitate to speak to one of our staff to help accommodate your needs.

We suggest you leave work early on Friday and take things slow. Create an AWESOME Family road trip playlist and enjoy the beautiful drive up to Camp.We also suggest you stop at Kawartha Dairy for Ice Cream and a chance to stretch your legs. This is also a good opportunity to stop in Bancroft and pick up any forgotten or last minute items.

Our camp gates open up at 3:00 pm and dinner is served at 6:00 pm. Don’t worry if you are arriving a little late, please just notify our office and we will save you some dinner and make sure we are awaiting your arrival to direct you to your cabin.  But for safety purposes, we do close the gate at 9 pm.
